GivingTuesday is a global movement dedicated to giving back.
Earlier this year we revamped our website making more of our resources available online. We’ve seen our web traffic grow tremendously – receiving visitors from all corners of the world: Australia, Germany, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Vietnam and South Africa! Shortly after our new website went live, we received an excited inquiry from France about two pieces in PAD’s art collection.
Richard, an art aficionado, spied two signed lithographs by artist Edward Plunkett in our gallery. Like his other works, ‘Café with Tango Dancers’ and ‘Café Rouge’ were inspired by themes from the silent motion picture era. Richard was drawn to his fantastical delight in the 1920’s fashions and culture, and was particularly amused by the artist’s sense of humour in capturing the behaviour of American high society of that period.
Richard seized the opportunity to snap up the pieces, and support educational efforts about substance use at the same time. Although far from Ontario, Richard valued PAD’s mission.
“I wholeheartedly admire your work and certainly approve of your raison d’etre… Bravo to all of you at PAD.”
Richard remarked that PAD art was reasonably priced. We are able to sell our artwork at lower prices because the art was donated to us, we have little overhead, and our art sales are conducted by a team of dedicated volunteers. Because our art sales are based on donations and volunteer efforts, the full purchase price (apart from shipping and handling charges) goes to the work we do to support young people and help them make safe and informed choices about alcohol and other drugs.
PAD is celebrating GivingTuesday and selling works from our collection at 50% off. From December 3 until December 30, our artwork will sell at half price (with the exception of our Picasso collection).
