Chaminade College School uses CBC in mental health campaign

“Chaminade’s Stop The Stigma Committee launched a pilot program together with Challenge’s, Beliefs, Changes (CBC) by Parent Action on Drugs and Toronto Public Health. The Chaminade students, trained by CBC, presented the program to their younger peers at the grade 7 & 8 level at St. Bernard Elementary School.  Our goal is to provide a peer based prevention which incorporates new information about current drugs use, social pressures, and evolving technology.  The Stop the Stigma Team provides resources and problem solving strategies that promote healthier choices needed during the transition to high school.  One of the biggest hurdles to overcome for anyone facing mental illness is the stigma associated with it.  The program is intended to be as non –judgemental as possible in order to promote an accepting environment where youth can voice their different opinions regardless of their personal beliefs and experiences.” – Chaminade College School
